Overview
Ms. Ying Zhang has been practicing intellectual property law since 1997; she is one of the first batch of lawyers that represented clients before the Chinese IP tribunals since China acceded to the World Trade Organization in 2001. Ying’s practice area covers nearly all aspects of intellectual property rights, contentious and non-contentious.
Ying had been a legal clerk in Chinese courts for two years before she joined a major UK IP consulting company in its Beijing office, where she started her IP practice. Ying gained substantial experience in IP portfolio management and complicated IP litigations for dozens of multi-international companies, including Gap, Kellogg, Roche and Bayer, from 2001 to 2007 when she worked at a prestigious IP litigation firm. In March 2007, Ying was invited to join a Magic Circle firm, where she was involved in dozens of business transactions in respect of IP assets, IP prosecution and enforcement matters, and commercial litigation and arbitration for international companies. After Ying joined Jincheng Tongda & Neal, she continued to represent clients before Chinese courts and CNIPA. She dealt with several cases that were selected as representative cases by the Supreme Court and was nominated as 15 one of the best IP lawyers by Asian Legal Business in 2016 and 2020.
