Overview

Rachna Bakhru is a Partner with RNA, Technology and IP Attorneys, an IP specialist law firm. She currently heads the Dispute Resolution team of the firm, dealing with IP enforcement and advisory. She has over 25 years of extensive experience in managing non-contentious and contentious IP matters, IT and Technology issues.

Her expertise includes risk assessment, IP clearance, regulatory issues, litigation, and alternate dispute resolution. She has worked on portfolios of large international companies and her industry expertise includes Pharmaceuticals and Information technology. She advises her clients on issues related to IP infringement, Information Technology, trade secrets, data protection, and geographical indications. Prior to joining RNA, she worked for 10 years at the international IP consultancy firm Rouse, heading the Dispute Resolution team for India. She has authored several articles for leading IP publications analyzing challenges in enforcing and protecting IP in the pharmaceutical sector, issues surrounding grant of patents for pharmaceutical preparations, compulsory licensing, Patent landscape in the Renewable Energy sector in India and changing landscape of the IPR environment. She is often invited to speak at the prestigious IP conferences and by the Indian government for training the Judges, police officers, schools, colleges, and SME’s. Rachna has received several awards for her outstanding work and recognitions in the Intellectual property domain by major industry publications and legal directories including Legal 500, Managing IP, WTR, World IP Review, WIPR, Legal Era, Patent Lawyer, IAM and Top 100 Asia IP Experts in India. Rachna is passionate about giving back to the community and spends significant time on pro-bono legal issues . She works with the NGO’s committed to uplifting the communities and environmental issues. She has spoken at conferences on contribution of IP on achieving Sustainability Development Goals and Fair Trade in IP relations.
