Overview

Savitha Kesav Jagadeesan is a Senior Resident Partner in Kochhar & Co. and heads it’s Chennai Office. Savitha chairs the intellectual property practice in Kochhar Chennai. Apart from IP she actively practices in Corporate Law, Labour Law and TMT law. Savitha extensively handles matters relating to the filing, prosecution, registration, protection and enforcement of trademarks, patents, industrial designs and copyrights. In addition to traditional and contemporary IP laws, she has led the firm’s advisory on matters related to unfair competition, domain name matters, infringement of IP rights on the Internet and IP issues concerning media and advertising. Another key area of her practice is ensuring legal metrology compliances and advisement on transition and auditing of IP portfolios for the firm multinational and large domestic clients. Forbes Legal Powerlist 2020 has recognised Savitha amongst the Top 100 Lawyers in India.

She has been adjudged as a Recommended Lawyer in the Asia Pacific Region by Legal 500 for IP, Employment Law and TMT law. Savitha has the distinction of being acclaimed among the Top 100 IP Professionals by Asia IP and the Top 100 Women IP Professionals by World IP Forum in their 2020 editions. She is an invited fellow of the Congress of Fellows of the Centre for International Legal Studies, Salzburg Austria. She is the Convenor for CII-IWN Chennai chapter and Co-leads the Southern Region’s Mentorship Vertical. She is the Honorary Legal Advisor for the Indo – Australian Chamber of Commerce and Co-Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee for the Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Savitha is a Monash Research Scholarship (Australia) Awardee. She has taught Contract law, Commercial Law and Criminal Law at Monash University and Victoria University, Australia. She is an invited speaker at many international and domestic conferences on IP and tech issues.
