Overview

Tarvinder is a Senior Partner and Heads the IP Practice in Kochhar & Co. He is a registered Patent Attorney with the Indian Patent Office with more than 30 years of experience in the field of IP. He qualified for the Bar in 1991. Under Tarvinder’s leadership, Kochhar & Co. has acted as the IP counsel to some of the largest corporations and their brands globally. These include Lockheed Martin, Emirates Airlines, Wells Fargo Bank, Nissan Motors, Blackberry, Acer Computers, Georgia Pacific, Lutron Electronics, National Presto Inc., Johnson Controls and Caterpillar.

In the last year, Tarvinder has been engaged by some of the largest Indian public and private sector enterprises including Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, Power Grid Corporation, Tata Consultancy amongst others advising them on IP strategies and solutions. His practice areas include patent drafting & prosecution, analysis of patent portfolios, patent infringement & freedom to operate opinions, drafting & negotiating complex licensing arrangements in relation to all aspects of intellectual property. He has been one of few Patent Attorneys in India who have conducted Live Patent Harvesting & Ideation sessions with R & D units of clients. In addition, Tarvinder’s practice focuses on trade mark prosecution and litigation in relation to infringement & passing off actions, including opinions on issues such as trade mark searches, counterfeiting & domain names, copyright protection and unfair competition.
